Two U.S. Capitol police officers are injured after a car apparently rammed them on a barricade in the Capitol on Friday afternoon. Capitol Police said.

“USCP is responding to the North Barricade vehicle access point [Constitution] Allegedly for reports of someone ramming a vehicle against two USCP officers, “USCP said in a statement on Twitter.” A suspect is in custody. Both officers are injured. All three were taken to the hospital. “

Video posted by local reporters on twitter appeared to show a car that had crashed into a barrier. In the videos, at least two people were taken to waiting ambulances on stretchers.

The US Capitol has been locked under what the Capitol Police refer to as an “external security threat”.

Entry or exit is not permitted and the police said, “If you are outside, take cover.”

A statement from the Washington, DC Metropolitan Police Department said: “At about 1:05 pm, a call came in to the Constitution Ave, NE block for a report of a possible shooting.” MPD did not provide any further details.

The incidents come less than three months after the January 6 uprising, which revealed serious deficiencies in the Capitol’s security apparatus.

This is a developing story. Some facts reported by the media may later turn out to be false. We will focus on reports from police officers and other agencies, credible news outlets and reporters who are on the ground. We will update as soon as the situation develops.
