ANALYSIS
After missing weeks 14 and 15, the rookie returned for weeks 16 and 17 and Washington’s lone playoff competition, despite being limited to 185 yards total and zero touchdowns over the three-game run. Gibson didn’t have to have surgery after the season, but it was apparently a slow process to work his way back from his grass toe as he still sometimes experiences pain and discomfort. That said, Gibson has been practicing with teammates at OTAs where he says he ran and cut at full speed. He also revealed he’s still getting some pesky toe treatment in the hopes of getting it back 100 percent at some point, via Nicki Jhabvala of the Washington Post.

Trevor Lawrence may be a rookie, but his advantage is considerable and his starting role is all but certain, which leads the author to select Lawrence as his QB2 in the third round.

2020 fantasy outlook

Good luck finding a player comp for Gibson, a 228-pounder 4.39-speed that spent two seasons in Memphis and only touched the ball seven times during the first of those campaigns. The community-college transfer quickly worked its way from oblivion to round three draft status, with its 2019 season ranking 38-735-8 in the air and 33-369-4 on the ground – good for second place in received by his team both in a hurry and in the shipyard. Just for a good measure, Gibson averaged 28 yards on 23 kick returns and added a 13th TD for special teams. While his combine workouts were otherwise average, a 4.39 40 from a man his size will inevitably attract a lot of looks. With Adrian Peterson fired from the team prior to Week 1, it is now possible that GIbson could play a key role for the team from the start, although veteran Peyton Barber could also get carries and the team still has JD McKissic to pass on. Gibson is the one with three-down potential, even if it doesn’t kick in right away.
