The White House this week told Trump officials to resign or be fired from bodies that oversee military academies, and that is President Biden’s right. But the Biden administration denies that the military has been compromised by politics, even if the president is now giving in to petty partisanship in military training.
The Biden administration asked more than a dozen members of the visiting commissions of the US Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and West Point to resign. The committees are somewhat similar to the trustees at a university. Members are elected by the President, Vice-President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, or the congressional committees. The presidential nominees have a three-year term.
