May 5, 2021

Hill’s agency announced Wednesday that the return has agreed to a contract with the Titans. ANALYSIS
Hill managed a respectable 4.7 yards per carry on 100 tries behind a poor offensive line in Atlanta last season, but there’s no chance he will become much more than an easily used # 2 option behind Derrick Henry in Tennessee. He could compete until the third round 2020 selection Darrynton Evans for the top backup gig, but this job doesn’t guarantee a constant workload as long as Henry is healthy.

Past fantasy prospects

The Falcons’ front office clearly admires Hill’s style of play, aided by the team’s willingness to reacquire him in September after spending nearly a year at Cincinnati. Well, 6-1, 219 behind, Hill appeared in 10 games for Atlanta last season, with all 20 of his broadcasts occurring between weeks 14-17. Of his 157 rushing yards, 60 came in a single run in the fourth quarter against Carolina in Week 16, but even if he removed that game, he still returned 5.1 yards per try. Granted, Hill’s audition didn’t provide a large enough sample to secure him as a dependable second-string option for the Falcons, but he’s definitely going to be fighting for a spot on special teams, if not number 3, which runs back.

Hill spent most of his rookie season on the Falcons training team after being inducted into the 2017 draft round, but was signed off the training team by the Bengals in November. In Cincinnati, he saw action in six games, mostly in special teams, and only in 19 offensive snaps. He ended up with 11 runs for 37 yards, along with two catches for 36 yards. He risks losing his squad spot after the Bengals Miami ran back against Mark Walton in the fourth round this year.

As a fifth-round pick in the 2017 draft, Hill will stand behind one of the league’s most dynamic running-back tandems in Devonta Freeman and Tevin Coleman. Freeman and Coleman have completed 24 touchdowns last season, but Hill is no stranger to the end zone as well, having scored 35 touchdowns in 37 career games in Wyoming. He would be the best candidate for Coleman or Freeman if either were injured. Otherwise, he may have a hard time making meaningful touches in his rookie season.
