Brooklyn Nets 129, Orlando Magic 92

NEW YORK (AP) – Kyrie Irving had 27 points and nine templates, James Harden scored 20 points and the Networks extended their longest winning streak since moving to Brooklyn to eight games with a 129-92 router the Orlando Magic on Thursday evening.

The Nets have the longest current winning streak in the NBA and the longest since a franchise record of 14 games at the end of the 2005-06 season. They moved to Brooklyn from New Jersey in 2012.

This role came almost entirely without it Kevin Durantwho missed his sixth game in a row with a strained left Achilles tendon.

“We just want him to be patient, to stay peaceful, and when he comes back the world will be in the know,” said Irving.

They are explosive enough with their other two All-Stars and improve to 7-2 with Irving and Harden playing but Durant not.

Landry Shamet 19 points and nine rebounds for the Nets, who opened the game with a 26: 4 run over half time. The team with the highest number of points in the NBA achieved 120 points for the 20th time and already set a franchise record in just 34 games.

Nikola Vucevic had 28 points and 12 rebounds for the Magic, who dropped their second straight after a three-game winning streak. They made 18 sales and gave 24 points to the nets if they got enough points without help.

“We can’t hit each other or turn the ball and that’s where it started,” said Magic coach Steve Clifford.

Clifford predicted ahead of the game that the Nets would be so gifted offensively that there would be possessions where his team defended well and Brooklyn was still hitting.

Orlando looked good early on, holding Brooklyn to five points in the first six minutes. Even after taking remedial action later in the reporting period, the nets fell between 28-24 after the first quarter.

That was about the only highlight for Orlando. The nets rose with a 12-2 breakout in the middle of the second, giving them a 44:38 lead. An increase of 19: 2 towards the end of the period converted a three-point lead into a 65:45 bulge.

“We can’t start every game the way we started the rest of the games during this type of series,” said Irving. “So all we have to do is turn the next page and gather some possessions. We ended the first quarter well and I think that has put us in control of the pace of the game.”

The nets surpassed the magic 41-19 in the second, shooting 16 out of 22 (72.7%).

Irving, who missed all five 3-point points in the first half, then made one before his steal and layup completed a 7-0 start from the locker room 72-47.

UNTIL 20

The nets improved to 15-5 with Harden in the line-up. His first game with Brooklyn after his Houston takeover was against the Magic when he had a triple-double on January 16 while playing with Durant while Irving was out. He finished with nine rebounds and seven assists in this one.

KYRIE ON KOBE

Irving discussed his desire to make Kobe Bryant the NBA logo. He said he understood that not everyone would like the idea, but believes that using Bryant’s image would make a difference to his generation of gamers who looked up the superstar who died in a helicopter crash last year.

“My thing is a tribute to the example this man set,” said Irving.

“It was the standard for our generation and it will go on and I want this to be something in history that will be changed forever, that our generation was part of that change.”
