Chelsea 0-1 Leicester: Foxes lift FA Cup for first time after Youri Tielemans stunner

Youri Tielemans’ great goal earned Leicester City victory in Saturday’s FA Cup final at Wembley

Youri Tielemans achieved one of the FA Cup grand final goals to bring Leicester City the cup for the first time in history by defeating Chelsea at Wembley.

The Belgian ended a hard-fought encounter with a spectacular right-footed shot that flew over Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga into the top corner from 25 meters in the 63rd minute.

It got manager Brendan Rodgers to the point of celebration, despite the fact that Leicester City fans – the largest number of visitors since the lockdown at Wembley of 21,000 fans – had to endure a nerve-wracking final phase before celebrating victory in their first final since 1969.

The Foxes made two crucial saves from goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, who nodded former Leicester defender Ben Chilwell’s header to a post and then made an even better stop to put Mason Mount’s powerful shot out of bounds.

And in one final act of the drama, Chilwell believed he had equalized at the last minute before that was ruled out with the slightest margin after the intervention of VAR.

Leicester ended the win to spark emotional scenes as those at Wembley celebrated a groundbreaking win.

More will follow.
