The Chicago Bears and quarterback Andy Dalton have agreed to a $ 10 million one-year deal with the quarterback chances of earning an additional $ 3 million in incentives, ESPN sources Adam Schefter said Tuesday.
Chicago was doing “a very aggressive pursuit” of Seahawks QB Russell WilsonSources said, but the bears have been told Seattle is not currently trading him.
The Bears were one of four teams Wilson’s agent had previously told Schefter the quarterback would accept a deal, the rest of them Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints and Las Vegas Raiders. Dallas gave Dak Prescott an extension last week while New Orleans agreed to a deal on Monday to bring back Jameis Winston. The Saints also have wage cap issues that would make it difficult to absorb Wilson’s $ 19 million base salary for 2021.

Wilson has a no-trade clause that he would have to forego in order to be treated. The Seahawks would also absorb $ 39 million in dead money, all of which would count towards their salary cap for that year if they traded Wilson before June 1.

Signed as a replacement, Dalton was pushed into service when Prescott suffered a slipped and compounded fracture of his right ankle in Week 5 New York Giants.

Trubisky is now a free agent after Chicago decided not to take his fifth year option for the former number 2 before last season. Foles is still on the team’s list.
