This section compares its advanced stats to players in the same position. The bar represents the player’s percentile rank. How do Corey Davis readings compare to other broadband receivers?

This section compares his draft training metrics with players in the same position. The bar represents the player’s percentile rank. For example, if the bar is halfway, the player will fall into the 50th percentile for that metric and this is considered average.

As the fifth election in 2017, Davis didn’t make the leap into the second year that many had expected. Despite 112 goals, he scored only four touchdowns and only had two catches greater than 40 yards. Davis’ efficiency was mediocre – 13.7 YPC and 8.0 YPT – and he only had three games with more than 70 receiving yards all season. Not all of it is on Davis, however. For much of the year, quarterback Marcus Mariota played with nerve damage in his arm and occasionally even had to give in to Blaine Gabbert. The Titans’ offense was overall below average and the team couldn’t find a consistent rhythm throughout the year. With 6-3, 209 and good speed (an ankle injury prevented him from getting a 40 yard shot during the preliminary draft), Davis has the skills to cause damage on the field along with the frame and catch radius a factor within the red zone. His focus seemed to fade at times (six drops) and the team used him erratically, aiming at him 13 times in week 1 and 15 times in week 4, but then six times five or less times. The Titans brought in slot man Adam Humphries this offseason, designed AJ Brown with the 51st choice, and should have Delanie Walker healthy again this summer so Davis will have more competition for goals in 2019. Even so, we’d still expect him to be the team’s top option, but for Davis to break out, Mariota has to stay sane.

Fifth overall winner on the 2017 draft, Davis had a disappointing and injury-ridden rookie season, finishing just 11.0 YPC and a paltry 5.8 YPT, and playing on a sluggish and predictable offensive under coach Mike Mularkey. While the entire offense should benefit from Mularkey’s departure, new offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur plans to simplify some of the routes and rely on the scheme to open up Davis. At 6-3, 209 and good speed (an ankle injury prevented him from taking a 40-yard shot), Davis is an explosive threat to the downfield that should effectively operate in the red zone where he rarely works as a rookie saw. (Davis, however, caught two TDs during the team’s playoff loss to the Patriots.) Davis is perfectly healthy for 2018 and should have a better relationship with QB Marcus Mariota in his sophomore year. Rishard Matthews and Delanie Walker are still there to command targets, but Eric Decker is gone and Davis wasn’t drafted fifth overall as a supplementary weapon.

Davis, the fifth overall winner on the draft this season, ended up in a splendid position picking up passes from an aspiring young quarterback in Marcus Mariota. The Titans also added Eric Decker to an offense that was very serious last season, but they’ll likely open things up and be able to support multiple fantasy-related recipients as Mariota moves on. Davis expects to have a regular seat straight away in three broad sets, along with a real chance to crowd Decker and / or Rishard Matthews into two broad formations for the season. At 6-3, 213 and good speed – an ankle injury prevented Davis from being timed at the Combine – and an excellent track run, Davis has lit up college football for the past four years, setting an FBS record with 5,278 receiving places, many of them including against Big 10 defenses in games outside of the conference. The ankle surgery in January limited Davis’ participation in May, but the team expects him to be healthy in time for training camp.
