President Biden will announce Tuesday that he is extending the deadline for opening COVID-19 vaccinations to all adult Americans by two weeks, said Jen Psaki, White House press secretary.

Less than a month later Director Biden is expected to change this deadline by April 19th to extend eligibility for all adults to May 1st.

“That doesn’t mean they will get it that day, that is, they can join the line on that day if they haven’t done so before,” said Psaki.

Most states have either made vaccines available to all residents aged 16 and over or have announced that they will do so by mid-April. The White House has not said how it intends to get the handful of remaining states to postpone their schedules.

Almost half of the states will be questioning all adult COVID-19 vaccines by April 15

Officer announced At the end of March, nearly half of the states should extend eligibility to all adults by April 15, and 46 states and Washington, DC would do so by May 1. new York, Wyoming, South carolina and Arkansas – opened all vaccines to the general public.

Biden is also expected to announce that the US has administered 150 million doses in his first 75 days in office. It is well on the way to surpassing its previously stated goal of reaching 200 million doses in its first 100 days.

The country makes an average of 3.1 million shots a day over a seven-day period, according to White House officials said on Monday and hit a new milestone over the weekend with an unprecedented 4 million vaccinations in one day. Almost one in four adults is fully vaccinated, they added.

According to NPR’s Vaccine tracker18.8% of the US population are fully vaccinated, and 32.4% had at least one dose. The states with the highest percentage of their vaccinated populations include New Mexico, South Dakota, Alaska, Rhode Island, and Maine.

Biden plans to comment on vaccinations from the White House on Tuesday afternoon after visiting a vaccination center in Alexandria, Virginia.
