Covid: Infections level off and Jackie Weaver wades in

The number of people who test positive for coronavirus is falling in England, Wales and Northern Ireland – but it has increased in Scotland, official figures show. Infections remain at low levels after falling sharply since January. according to the ONS analysis. It is estimated that in the week leading up to March 20, 1 in 340 people in England had coronavirus, or 0.3%. This is the same number in Northern Ireland and 0.2% in Wales. In Scotland, 1 in 240, or 0.4%, tested positive. To put it into context, at the height of the Winter Summit, the percentage of people who tested positive was around 2% in most parts of the UK. The same numbers show that the infection rates in The 11 to 16 year olds have risen slightly in England.
