Drake wins major award at Billboards, makes rare appearance with son

It was a family affair in the Billboard Music Awards.

Not long after that pink was accompanied by her 9 year old daughter Willow Sage Hart, for a soaring performance, drake brought out his young son when he accepted the Artist of the Decade Award on Sunday night.

Adonis Graham, 3, wore a red flannel shirt and stayed close to his father when they took an outdoor stage at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The rapper “Nice for What” presented his son with the BBMA trophy, which Adonis was holding when he hugged his father’s leg.

“I am very confident about my music,” said Drake in his speech. “Even when I do a good job, I always wonder how I could have done better. I rarely celebrate anything.”

“I know I spent an unpredictable amount of hours analyzing all the things that I did wrong,” he continued. “But tonight I’m sure we did something right.”

Drake accepts the Artist of the Decade award for capturing his son Adonis Graham at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday.

He dedicated the award to his friends, co-workers and his “lovely family” and ended the speech by picking up Adonis and lifting him to the microphone. Adonis seemed overwhelmed and started crying. Drake held his hand as they left the stage together.

drake first shared photos of Adonis on Instagram last March at the start of the US COVID-19 lockdown and wrote in a headline that he “can’t wait for the happy day” when he can reunite with his family.

Last November, he posted another picture of him sleeping next to Adonis, labeled with an emoji of crossed fingers.

In the fall of 2018, Drake started the joint upbringing with Adonis’ mother, the former model / painter Sophie Brussaux. on an episode of LeBron James’ talk show “The Shop”.

“I’m a single father learning to communicate with a woman who, we’ve had our moments,” Drake said at the time. “I want to be able to explain to my son what happened. But I don’t want him not to love his mother. I never want the world to be mad at its mother. We are in a situation and we are both equally responsible. Now I’m just very excited to be a great dad.

“No matter what, I have unconditional love for my child’s mother,” he added. “I want him to love his mother and I have to project that energy.”
