Former England captain Michael Vaughan says England will have to pick their best team for their first test against New Zealand at Lord’s on Wednesday and “get back on track”.

England lost their last three Tests in India over the winter after winning nine and drawing two of their previous 13.

The two-test series against the Kiwis is preceded by five tests against India, before the Ashes in Australia in December.

“Don’t worry about six months, just try to win now,” said Vaughan.

“”[England boss] Chris Silverwood just needs to make the right decision and choose a team that can win.

“It was like another game in India but when you are only seven Tests away from an Ashes you just have to get back to winning ways.”

England have to do without star all-rounder Ben Stokes, who is recovering from a broken finger, and sailor Jofra Archer, who had one Elbow surgery.

The quintet of Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, Chris Woakes, Sam Curran and Moeen Ali is also missing after a long break after the game in the abandoned Indian Premier League.

An injury to wicketkeeper Ben Foakes means vacant Gloucestershire batsman James Bracey will make his debut at seven, while Ollie Robinson – also still playing for England – and Craig Overton, who has only passed four Tests, could play for Mr.

Vaughan, who captained the England Tests between 2003 and 2008, says Silverwood, who recently did the Responsibility of the head voterHe has to choose his strongest, most experienced team.

“I would go for it personally [James] Anderson, [Stuart] Wide and [Mark] Wood this week and Jack Leach – that’s four bowlers I think I can trust in any condition, ”Vaughan said on the Tuffers and Vaughan podcast.

“They are a formation that can bowl from day one to day five.

“I would go for the top four bowlers, especially if you don’t have Ben Stokes and you can’t get the balance right.

“I’ve been very vocal for the past two years not to play Anderson and Broad together and to make sure you build up.

“But now I’m at the stage where construction should have been done with seven tests, and now it’s about getting a team to play and win so they can come to Australia with that winning mentality.

“If that means she [the leading players] If you play a few more Tests this summer, this English team will have to start winning games to build their confidence. ”
