Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel led PSG to last year’s final, while Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola won the title twice when Barcelona manager and Jürgen Klopp won the Champions League with Liverpool in 2019
Liverpool face Real Madrid in the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Manchester City drew against Borussia Dortmund, while Chelsea play against Porto and defending champions Bayern Munich take on Paris St-Germain, the team they defeated in last year’s final.
In the semi-finals, the winner of the tie between Real Madrid and Liverpool will meet Porto or Chelsea, and Manchester City or Dortmund will meet Bayern or PSG.
The two-legged quarter-finals will take place on April 6th and 7th.
The first legs of the semi-finals will take place on April 27th and 28th. The second leg will take place on May 4th and 5th.
Liverpool and Real Madrid met in the 2018 Champions League final with the Spanish club, who have won the competition 3-1 13 times.
The two teams have played against each other six times in Europe’s top competition, with both winning three games each, including Liverpool’s 1-0 win in the 1981 final.
Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah suffered a shoulder injury following a challenge with Sergio Ramos in the first half of the 2018 Champions League final against Real Madrid
Their only previous meeting in a knockout game was in 2009 in the round of 16. Liverpool won 5-0 overall.
Premier League leaders Manchester City have only met Dortmund twice. These games took place in the 2012 group stage of the Champions League. The English team played 1-1 at home and lost 1-0 in Germany.
City, who are looking to win the competition for the first time, remain on their way to an unprecedented quadruple and could face English winger Jadon Sancho, who left the club in 2017 to join the German side.
Haaland ‘numbers speak for themselves’ – Guardiola
Norwegian striker Erling Braut Haaland, the son of former midfielder Alf-Inge Haaland, also plays for Dortmund and has scored 20 goals in just 14 Champions League games.
“The numbers speak for themselves,” said City boss Guardiola of Haaland. “He is one of the best strikers in the world at his age.
“I know the quality of this player, I think everyone knows.”
On speculation that City connected with a move for the 20-year-old, Guardiola added: “He’s a player for Dortmund. I don’t like it when people talk about our players. They understand that I can’t answer that question. “
Dortmund is fifth in the Bundesliga and replaced coach Lucien Favre with Edin Terzic in December.
“You (Dortmund) have a lot of quality there,” said Guardiola. “They prevailed against Sevilla, which is one of the strongest teams of all time in the knockout process.
“Dortmund is tough, but everyone would have been.”
Chelsea have played eight times against Porto, won five times and lost twice, and beat the Portuguese side 3-2 overall.
Second in the top Portuguese league, Porto have beaten Juventus in their last 16.
“Of course a lot of people will make us favorites against Porto, but that won’t help us,” said Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel. “You can ask in Turin if that helps you be favorites.
“We are self-confident and that has a lot to do with our performance.
“We are confident that we will face strong opponents and treat them with respect, but now, in the quarter-finals, we are thinking about how we can win them.”
Tuchel led PSG to last year’s final but the French champions lost 1-0 to Bayern.
Kingsley Coman scored the winning goal when the German team won the competition for the sixth time. Tuchel left PSG earlier this season and took over from Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge in January.
