Liverpool v Real Madrid: Window on visitors’ team bus smashed by object thrown from crowd

A pane of a double-glazed window was smashed

Liverpool have condemned the “unacceptable and shameful behavior” of some “people” after the Real Madrid team bus smashed a window in Anfield on Wednesday.

Hundreds of Reds fans were on Anfield Road ahead of the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals.

The Real bus was booed as it passed and several objects were thrown.

A pane of a double-glazed window was smashed and Liverpool employees saw broken glass on the floor being cleaned up.

A Liverpool spokesman said: “We clearly condemn the actions that resulted in the Real Madrid team bus being damaged when it arrived at Anfield tonight.

“It is completely unacceptable and shameful behavior by a few people.

“We sincerely apologize to our visitors for the hardship that has arisen.

“We will work with the Merseyside Police Department to establish the facts and identify those responsible.”

La Liga giants Real lead 3-1 overall, with the winners of the game facing Chelsea in their last four games.
