Marcus Rashford highlighted the racial abuse he had received in the hours following Manchester United’s loss to Villarreal

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford said he received “at least 70 racial slurs” on social media following Wednesday’s final Europa League loss to Villarreal.

“So far, at least 70 racist insults have been counted on my social accounts.” Rashford wrote on Twitter.external link

“To those who are working to make me feel worse than I already have, good luck trying.”

Rashford previously spoke about the racial abuse he received.

In January the England international said he was exposed to “humanity and social media at its worst” after receiving racial abuse following a 0-0 Arsenal draw.

“I am a black man and I live proudly every day that I am” He wrote on Twitter at the time.external link

“No one or no comment is going to make me feel any different. Sorry, if you’ve been looking for a strong reaction, you just won’t get it here.”
