Martin Odegaard: Arsenal close to completing loan deal with Real Madrid

Odegaard joined Real Madrid from Stromgodset in 2015

Arsenal are hoping to finalize Real Madrid’s attacking midfielder Martin Odegaard’s loan on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old Norwegian has had problems gaining a foothold in Real manager Zinedine Zidane’s squad this season.

Real Sociedad, where Odegaard was on loan last season, and Eredivisie leaders Ajax wanted to sign him too.

However, Arsenal have reached an agreement and could face Manchester United on Saturday.

The Spanish football expert Guillem Balague said Real Madrid have prevented him from returning to Sociedad when they wanted him to move to the London club.

His arrival at the Emirates Stadium comes after playmaker Mesut Ozil’s departure for Fenerbahce.

Odegaard moved to Real Madrid von Stromgodset in January 2015 and has played for Real nine times this season.

After returning to the Bernabeu on loan at Sociedad that summer, it seemed like he would become a regular at Real Madrid under Zidane, who coached him when he first joined the B-Team.

After starting the first two La Liga games of the season, he has only appeared once since a league game began since November 21.
