While the teams prepare for the preseason games this weekend in 2021, the quarterbacks were in the spotlight on Wednesday at the training camps.
The Ravens’ Lamar Jackson had its most precise storage day, Zach Wilson looked comfortable for the jets, and Jordan love ready to start in the Packers’ preseason games Aaron Rodgers‘ day off. Miami’s Tua Tagovailoa fought his way through a tough Chicago defense in joint practice while the Bears’ top receivers Allen Robinson II sat out with a hamstring injury. Las Vegas had the day off from work in the field, but the QB. the raiders Derek Carr took the opportunity to comment on his future as a player.
In other news, sources say Colts injured QB Carson Wentz could be ready for week 1 … but the Ravens lost another receiver to injury in Consumption Bateman.

What our NFL Nation reporters saw today
Dolphins head coach Brian Flores has not chosen an easy opponent for Tua Tagovailoa and the offense. The first of two joint training sessions between Miami and Chicago favored both defenses primarily, and for Tagovailoa it offered him the chance to compete against a unit of bears that featured pro bowlers at all levels. “I think the defense is really good in attack,” said Tagovailoa. “If you hit your back foot in your throws, they’re right in front of your face.” Tagovailoa said he tried to aim for the tight end as often as possible Mike Gesicki, which Miami activated on Wednesday from the Reserve / COVID-19 list. – Jeff Dickerson
Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson had his most accurate day at training camp, despite having a wacky broad recipient group. Jackson was 17 out of 22 (77%) as he mostly stuck with short and medium throws. The Ravens were reduced to seven wide receivers due to injuries (and two were added this week). Marquise Brown (Thigh), Rashod Bateman (groin), Miles Boykin (Thigh) and Deon Cain (not known). Like Jackson for the past three seasons, he relied heavily on the tight end Mark Andrewswho caught five Jackson passes. – Jamison Hensley

Kimberley Martin and Tim Hasselbeck examine the keys to Raven’s QB Lamar Jackson success this season.
Jalen Mayfield received some first team reps for the Falcons on Wednesday, the first time since training on Friday. He and Willie Beavers competed there, and for Friday’s preseason game, don’t be surprised to see Beavers on the left tackle and Mayfield on the right tackle for a rating. The competition for the right tackle will get hot next week, though Kaleb McGary and Jason Spriggs both are expected to return fully to practice. It is one of the few starting jobs that are really available. – Michael Rothstein
Rookie quarterback Zach Wilson bounced back from a handful of lackluster practices and was solid on Wednesday. He looked more comfortable in the pocket and showed his arm strength with a few quick tosses. But he got sloppy on a pass and tried to throw one over the linebacker’s head CJ Mosleywho almost made the interception. Wilson said he took risks on the practice field because “this is where you learn what I can and can’t do.” – Rich Cimini
The first of two joint training sessions between the bears and dolphins – which were interrupted for 45 minutes due to a thunderstorm – was mainly dominated by defense. For bear starters Andy Dalton, it offered a nice alternative to Saturday’s preseason game against the same Dolphins, where Dalton will be limited to a handful of games. “I think having these opportunities to play against another team is fun and it comes at a good time,” said Dalton. Chicago’s offense had to train without their best player, wide receiver Allen Robinson II, who was out on Wednesday with a hamstring injury. – Jeff Dickerson
Cardinals Wide Receiver Andy Isabella is back in the COVID log after missing the first five days of camp because of it. How this could affect his job security is not yet clear. If he misses Friday’s preseason game, Isabella could risk another of the young receivers impressing enough to advance into his squad spot. But in all likelihood it wouldn’t hurt his standing with the Cardinals unless he consistently sticks to protocol, which could limit his availability and jeopardize his squad spot. – Josh Weinfuss

Raiders trainer Jon Gruden gave the team the day off for training on the field on Wednesday – after the players were already dressed in full upholstery – as a kind of reward for their hard work in the previous training camp. “It felt incredible for a minute,” said Defensive Tackle Johnathan Hankins. “I thought I was still dreaming, it was still so early.” The Raiders trained at 7:30 a.m. to beat the heat in southern Nevada. “It wasn’t a day off,” said quarterback Derek Carr. “We were still working, in the weight room … and with the coaches.” – Paul Gutierrez
Wide Receivers coach Antwaan Randel El is one of eight former NFL players on the Lions coaching staff. When asked who would win in a potential one-on-one play against former Pro Bowl DB Aaron Glenn – Detroit’s defensive coordinator – Randel El confidently says he would be victorious. “I didn’t say you’d see,” he said with a laugh. “I like my Achilles and all that stuff intact.” In his heyday as a player, Randel El played Super Bowl XL at Ford Field, and his 43-yard reverse touchdown pass in the fourth quarter to wide receiver Hines Ward helped Pittsburgh beat Seattle by 21:10. – Eric Woodyard
In a precursor to Saturday’s preseason opener against the Texans, Jordan Love took over the Packers’ QB1 reps in Wednesday’s training because Aaron Rodgers had the day off. Love still looked inconsistent – a game blow Amari Rodgerswho made an outstretched catch of high difficulty and another who threw the ball at a player’s feet. Nobody has caught more Love balls in the camp than Reggie Begelton, who insisted Love “see defenses much faster. He understands where his recipients are supposed to be and, frankly, he’s doing his job and doing fine.” – Rob Demovsky
Rain forced the Browns to work indoors on Wednesday and with the team’s weight room still housed in the indoor practice facility, the Browns focused on short distances and goal-line situations as space was limited. Tight ends Austin Hooper and Harrison Bryant dominated early before defense took control of practice, underscored by the impressive pass break from John Johnson III in the corner of the end zone. – Jake Trotter

NFL quotes of the day
“It was the right opportunity for me and my family, and I felt like I could come here and make a footprint in this organization and actually be part of that leadership – along with Jeff [Okudah] – and do something special, do something big. Don’t just win, win big. “Lions CB Nickell Robey-Coleman, who came to Detroit this week as a free agent despite several teams interested” I feel like I can no doubt play another 15 years. Nothing hurts It’s in the middle of the camp and I feel great. I feel strong, I feel fast, I feel explosive. And I think that’s how we train now. “Raiders QB Derek Carr
