Past fantasy prospects
Despite a productive college career in Colorado and a Sub-4.4 40 on his pro day, Lindsay went vacant last year thanks to his 5-8, 190-pound frame. He stayed close to home with an offer from the Broncos, and after thoroughly outperforming Royce Freeman and Devontae Booker in the preseason, Lindsay starred and put together the best newbie campaign in Denver since Clinton Portis in 2002. Lindsay’s speed, burst, toughness and dexterity make him a strong opponent for any NFL offensive, and while his lack of top-notch evasion makes him a contact magnet, his compact frame took the worst of it from defenders until he broke his wrist Week 16. The fact that he was productive behind an injury-related offensive line is a good sign for 2019 if the unit stays healthy. The main reason for believing that Lindsay could improve in his sophomore season is the addition of offensive coordinator Rich Scangarello, a product of Kyle Shanahan’s coaching tree. Shanahan’s system is tailor-made for versatile RBs, so Lindsay is likely to get more passing snapshots without losing touches on the ground.
Lindsay racked up a total of 4,859 yards and 39 touchdowns in Colorado and ran a 4.39-meter dash on his pro day. He still didn’t get an invitation to join the Combine and didn’t hear his name being mentioned on the design weekend. Early on, it seems like a good pick to add to Denver’s legacy of uncovered freelance agents. He should get his first taste of action as a kick-returner, but his speed and reception ability add a unique element to the Denver backfield.
