Premier League Darts: Gerwyn Price ruled out after positive Covid-19 test

Gerwyn Price won his first darts world championship in January 2021

World number 1 Gerwyn Price was banned from the Premier League Darts tournament in Milton Keynes after testing positive for Covid-19.

All players and officials were tested when they arrived for the 17 night event on Sunday.

Welshman Price, the only one to test positive, was due to face Gary Anderson on Monday night but will now return home to self-isolate.

He is replaced in the field by James Wade.

UK Open Champion Wade was the next highest player in the tournament and was on standby at Milton Keynes.

He will play Anderson in the opening round before taking on Rob Cross on Tuesday night.

The tournament will take place from April 5th to 22nd.
