Puerto Rican boxer Félix Verdejo was questioned Friday in connection with the disappearance of a 27-year-old woman, the day before her body was washed up in a lagoon in San Juan, the island’s capital.
Keishla Rodríguez Ortiz, whose body was found on Saturday, was identified through dental records. Puerto Rico’s Institute of Forensics said on Sunday. The police said in one Missing Person Report that Ms. Rodríguez Ortiz last spoke to her mother on Thursday at around 7 a.m. local time.
Authorities said they had identified Mr. Verdejo, 27, as a person interested in Ms. Rodríguez Ortiz’s disappearance.
According to reports in the Puerto Rican news media, Mr. Verdejo was seen leaving the San Juan Criminal Investigation Corps headquarters on Friday. Captain Luis Díaz Muñoz of the investigative corps informed the newspaper The new day that Mr Verdejo did not work with investigators.

At around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Ms. Ortiz Rivera announced that she had received a call from her other daughter, who told her that Ms. Rodríguez Ortiz’s boss had called to say she had not shown up for work .
“It was super strange to me because she is very responsible for her job,” said Ms. Ortiz Rivera.
Ms. Ortiz Rivera said she called Mr. Verdejo to ask about her daughter and he said he did not know where she was.
“You’re lying to me – that’s the first lie,” Ortiz Rivera recalled. “She spoke to me a while ago and told me that when you finished exercising, you would go to her house.”
