ANALYSIS
Penny eventually returned from his torn ACL in week 15 but only played three games before being injured again. In this distance he hurried eleven times for 34 meters. He’s healthy again and has had a full off-season with Week 1 running around. Chris Carson, who signed a $ 10.425 million two-year deal with the Seahawks in March, is the likely frontrunner for the top job. Even Carson admitted, however, that Seattle’s backcourt is likely to develop in tandem, so if Penny can get back to his 2019 form when he can get back to his 2019 form, Penny could end up doing 370 yards (5.7 YPC) and three Touchdowns raced.

Past fantasy prospects
When a team invests a selection from the first round in a rewind, it’s believed to give the crown jewel of its design class more than 94 touches, but apparently they do things a little differently in the Pacific Northwest. In fact, Penny had the second smallest touch since 2002 of any first-round rookie running back with at least 12 games played (David Wilson, 75 in 2012). Penny broke her finger at training camp, and while he was recovering in time for week one, Chris Carson locked the starting job for good a few weeks later. Penny then had a hard time wrestling Mike Davis’ second job. The rookie showed why he was the 27th overall winner when he got a chance. In week 10, when Carson was out, he rushed for 108 yards and a carry of 12. Penny didn’t show much as a recipient, but that shouldn’t be a huge obstacle in an offense that attempted a league low of 427 passes last season. What he offers is a good size (220 pounds), some strength in his legs, and surprising speed (4.46 40), and with Davis now in Chicago, Penny is heading into his second season to make his way into one Force timeshare with Carson. The duo’s similar skills should allow them to wear down the defenses, so the better numbers in any given week may depend on who gets the stretcher in the fourth quarter, which is a headache for owners.
Penny, arguably the draft’s most shocking selection for 2018, went to Seattle with the 27th overall win, the second to fall off the board. The team definitely had a need in the position, but pulling Penny over bigger names like Sony Michel, Nick Chubb, and Derrius Guice raised eyebrows. Penny, however, fits exactly into the form Seattle is looking for at 5-11, 220 back and, importantly, doesn’t have the injury history of the aforementioned trio. During his final season in the state of San Diego, he showed both strength and patience as a runner, setting up his blocks before trampling the defenders into the hole. His surprising time in the Combine from 4.46 to 40 probably played for his rise to the Hawks draft board, removing any doubt about his athleticism. While the building blocks are there for him to be a solid NFL starter, Penny must work on his receiving and blocking to become a true three-down asset, and his upright running style and average dodging ability can too have a lot of contact. Given the design of the Seattle capital that used it and the lack of established talent on the depth map, Penny has every opportunity to star, despite a broken finger he suffered in August temporarily slowing his momentum. On the plus side, Penny should be back in time for Week 1.
