Lionel Messi made a record-breaking 768 appearance for Barcelona with two goals as Spanish giants beat Real Sociedad 6-1 in the league.
The 33-year-old Argentinian striker prevailed one game ahead of former midfielder Xavi’s overall win as Barca closed the gap to leaders Atletico Madrid to four points.
Antoine Griezmann opened the scoring, and Sergino Dest (two) and Ousmane Dembele also found the net.
Messi has scored 23 league goals so far this season.
