Matt Shoemaker’s third spring start for Minnesota didn’t go as well as his first two.
Boston touched Shoemaker, who had previously given up a run with three hits in 6 1/3 innings, for seven runs with seven hits in three innings. The runs all came via home runs – a Grand Slam in the second inning by Bobby Dalbec and a three-shot in the third by Rafael Devers.
Seven twin pitchers allowed a four-hit run over the next five innings.
Minnesota had just three hits – two from starter Eduardo Rodriguez, who scored five innings – a Willians Astudillo double and singles from Caleb Hamilton and JT Riddle.
The twins are absent on Thursday and will return to the field at 5 p.m. on Friday against Atlanta in North Port, Florida. The game can be viewed on FOX Sports North.
