Sam Curran: England all-rounder will not rejoin England Test squad in India because of flight issues

Sam Curran will fly to India with the white ball team on January 26th

All-rounder Sam Curran will not return to the English test team for the fourth test against India as planned because of the “logistical challenge” of bringing him to Ahmedabad.

The 22-year-old was rested after the Sri Lanka tour in January.

He was supposed to fly to India in time for the last game of the test series and the limited part of the tour.

However, that decision was reversed to limit its possible exposure to coronavirus on commercial flights.

He will now travel on the private charter flight scheduled to bring the White Ball squad to India on February 26th.

A statement from the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said: “The original plan was that the Surrey all-rounder would fly to Ahmedabad in time to be available for the fourth test in the city from March 4th.

“However, in the midst of the ongoing pandemic, making safe arrangements for such a trip proved too great a logistical challenge.”
