The Philadelphia Eagles have agreed to act quarterback Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts For a selection for the third round in 2021 and a conditional selection for the second round in 2022, which could turn into a first round, league sources told ESPN.

The Eagles will receive the 85th overall pick in this year’s draft, and the conditional second-round player may, according to sources, be a first-round pick based on Wentz’s playing time. Wentz must play at least 75% of the Colts’ offensive snaps in order for the 2022 conditional selection to pass to a top notch, according to sources.

The pick could also become a top classic if Wentz plays at least 70% of the Snaps and the Colts make the playoffs. But the worst the 2022 pick can be is a second round player, which means the Eagles are sure to make two value picks for Wentz.

The Eagles and Colts have spent much of the past two weeks finalizing the deal, which won’t officially open until the new NFL year begins on March 17th. Although they were speculated as a potential candidate for Wentz in trade talks, the Chicago Bears According to a source, I didn’t make an offer to the Eagles.

The Eagles will hit a dead-cap hit of $ 33.8 million – the largest dead-cap hit a team has ever scored for a player – while the Colts will take the remaining balance of Wentz ‘128 million. Dollar renewal, including the $ 10 million guaranteed roster bonus due March 19th.

Each team leaves the business with what they wanted on all fronts: Wentz will be reunited with Colt’s head coach Frank Reich, his former Philadelphia offensive coordinator, and help fill the void it left Philip Riversretirementwhile the eagles will likely turn Jalen hurtsalthough they also intend to bring competition for him. The Eagles’ starting job is not expected to automatically go to Hurts.

The deal with Wentz marks the end of an unexpected chapter and year with the Eagles. Wentz switched from a former MVP candidate to Hurts – a newcomer to the second round in 2020 – during his relationship with former Eagles head coach Doug Pederson disintegrated.

Wentz wanted to get out of Philadelphia, although the Eagles hired former Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni as their new head coach.

Reich, who has been Indianapolis’ head coach for the past three years, was Philadelphia’s offensive coordinator for Wentz’s first two NFL seasons in 2016 and 2017. With Reich at the helm, Wentz will lead a Colts attack that will hit the NFL ranks 10th on offense and ninth place last season.

Four-time Pro Bowl recipient TY Hilton is an unrestricted free agent, and His future with the Colts is uncertain, but Indianapolis is going to come into the free hand and draft of 2021 with a multiple reverse crime Jonathan Taylorwho, as a rookie, was the NFL’s third leading rusher with 1,169 yards last season.

Thursday’s blockbuster trading also continues an already turbulent off-season for quarterbacks.

Less than three weeks after Aries acted Jared Goff, who was No. 1 in the overall selection of the 2016 draft, to the Lions for quarterback Matthew StaffordThe Eagles have now exchanged the number 2 overall selection of the same design for the Colts.

The Eagles signed a four-year $ 128 million extension to Wentz in June 2019, signaling their belief that he was quarterback’s long-term answer.

But the relationship took a turn for the worse during a rocky 2020 season that saw Wentz rank 34th in the NFL in terms of completion rate (57.4%) and first in Interceptions (15) and Sacks (50) despite him was used for the last four games of Philadelphia in favor of Hurts.

28-year-old Wentz appeared to be on his way to stardom in Philadelphia after completing 33 touchdowns and only seven interceptions in 2017 while putting heavy loads on the MVP before tearing multiple knee ligaments in December. The following season he developed a stress fracture in his back, but managed to throw 48 touchdowns on 14 interceptions over the next two years.

But the gap between Wentz and Pederson grew; A source told ESPN’s Tim McManus that Pederson Wentz had lost much of his control over the offense as injuries and casualties piled up in 2020 and Wentz’s confidence in Pederson’s system was lost.

Pederson was fired last month After a 4-11-1 season after he and his owner Jeffrey Lurie failed to agree on a shared vision for the future. But Sirianni’s attitude didn’t change Wentz’s opinion of wanting to move on from Philadelphia, a sign that there were trust issues beyond Pederson.

The Eagles swapped the draft twice to select Wentz from the state of North Dakota, and Wentz confirmed that decision early on. He holds the franchise single season record for completions (388), completion percentage (69.6), overtaking yards (4,039), and passing TDs (33).

Wentz is also one of only six quarterbacks in NFL history to record more than 20 TDs and 10 or fewer interceptions in three consecutive seasons Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson. He was named a first-team all-pro and was the only Pro Bowl to appear in 2017.

ESPN’s Tim McManus contributed to this report.
