Stocks rise in Japan and China; most other major markets closed for holiday

Markets in Japan and mainland China gained on Friday after another record-breaking day on Wall Street as most of the other major global markets closed on Good Friday.

Japan’s Nikkei 225
NIK, + 1.41%
increased by 1.1% with SoftBank
9984, + 4.25%
Increase of more than 3%. The Shanghai Composite
SHCOMP, + 0.18%
0.4% higher, while the Shenzhen Composite with a smaller cap
399106, + 0.68%
advanced 1%. South Korea’s Kospi
180721, + 0.66%
gained 0.7% and shares rose significantly in Malaysia
FBMKLCI, + 0.06%.
The markets in Hong Kong, Australia, Singapore and Taiwan were closed for holidays.
