Payton said the team will make a few more calls and it would be easy enough to make an argument in favor of drafting a quarterback in April. Winston has signed a one-year deal while Hill’s “four-year $ 140 million deal” is all void after 2021 (it just helps the team get a cap hit by 2022). The camp battle between these two QBs will be one of the main fantasy football stories of the summer, with Hill offering an edge thanks to his ability to run while Winston already has a 5,000-yard season on his resume. The Saints lost a lot of talent this off-season but they still have Sean Payton, Alvin Kamara, Michael Thomas and one of the better O-lines in the league.

Past fantasy prospects
Hill stood by the quarterback and ran back, close end, wide receiver and kick-returner last season as a trick-play backup. His greatest fantasy, however, was to deprive Drew Brees and the Saints of a handful of pass and rush opportunities at the goal line. Hill, who scored twice last year, is likely to remain a mainstay in the team’s offensive plans while also playing most of the snaps on special teams. If Brees were injured, Hill might have the option to deal more touches, but Teddy Bridgewater is still the number 2 quarterback on the roster. Hill will continue to be a fun gamer whom the Saints love in a variety of ways, but he’s not a fantasy option outside of the deep two-QB leagues.
Hill, a standout double-threat quarterback at BYU, was not drafted in the 2017 NFL Draft before signing as a free agent with the Packers. He then joined the Saints after being charged with waivers last September. The rookie quarterback spent most of the season on the training team before causing a stir on his NFL debut in Week 13 against the Panthers – a game in which he recorded two tackles and nearly blocked a pair of Carolina punts for the special forces Saints. While Hill is expected to continue playing on special teams, he will also compete with off-season free agent Tom Savage for the right to act as the primary backup for quarterback Drew Brees. Although Hill’s checkered medical history includes four end-of-season injuries in college, he has intriguing potential as a double-threat quarterback if he ever takes an expanded look at the NFL.
