Aspen Club
The Meriwether company, a private real estate investment and development firm, has partnered with Revere capital and Fireplace investment Acquire the Aspen Club, located at the base of Aspen Mountain in Aspen, Colorado. The five hectare mixed-use development site was previously operated as a fitness and tennis facility, which was frequented by locals, celebrities and sports stars. The story goes back to 1976. And it was such a colorful story!
The club’s initial focus was on a tennis center. Tennis regulars included Billie Jean King, Martina Navratilova, Chris Evert, John McEnroe and Björn Borg. Fitness regulars included Jane Fonda, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Michael Jordan, and Tom Brokaw.

However, the Aspen Club went into foreclosure but was bought by in January 2021 Meriwether company. Garrett Simon, a partner with the company, said the company vision for the 5-acre property is a revitalized, evolved Aspen Club that balances the myriad of wellness concepts – traditional Eastern medicine, technological advances in the spa industry, and new ones culinary concepts -. all under one roof.
Simon hoped to be open to locals as well as second home owners and tourists year-round, but emphasized that the evolved iteration of the Aspen Club will keep up the sophisticated expectation of the elegant Aspen experience.

The hotel is already in a prime location – along the Roaring Fork River with views of the valley and Aspen Mountain. Downtown Aspen is within easy walking distance. When completed in Fall 2023, the resort will include 20 serviced three and four bedroom residences with lockout options in case there are only one or two guests in place of apartment buildings or groups.
“We’re starting the wellness and fitness planning processes this month,” added Garrett Simon. “We believe that especially after Covid, our wellness opportunity and the exceptional location of the Aspen Club will be a great canvas for our ideas as well as an essential option for new guests. We want the Aspen Club to become a major wellness / health destination that new guests and the already extraordinary population of Aspen will enjoy.

“Currently,” continued Simon, “the Aspen Club has a 65,000-foot club facility. With this space, we will have extraordinary dimensions in terms of wellness and health programs. We will also have a culinary dimension.”
Meriwether Companies has extensive experience in mountain destinations, private club offerings, and groundbreaking sports and wellness resorts. The company is actively planning Coral Mountain in La Quinta, California and was recently completed Transfer telluride in Telluride, Colorado and The shore in Breckenridge, Colorado.
